Bourbon – Over proof and that can get in the way. There is a strong rye base and no notable nose. No vanilla or leather or oak or anything. There is a hint of sugar. If this was actually a rye and not a bourbon, it’d be great, but it’s not. So it isn’t. I find the flavor very enjoyable, but the proof makes it so you can’t make a night of enjoying this. It’s hard to rate low because it is so enjoyable, but there isn’t anything special to it besides the strong rye.
